Why we went solar: We founded Throwback Brewery about seven years ago with the mission to build a sustainable, socially responsible, and community-oriented business that makes farm-fresh beer and food from local ingredients. We were lucky enough to purchase a beautiful 12-acre farm only about a year into our existence as a business, which has really helped us to reach our dreams and goals around sustainability. One of the benefits of this property is the large southern facing exposure of the barn – it is almost like it was intentionally built to harness the power of the sun. We went solar because we believe in renewable energy – one of our core values is to minimize our negative impact on the environment. With our REAP grant, rebates, and tax credits, it also made great business sense!
Benefits we’ve enjoyed since going solar: We’ve already seen more than 200,000 lbs of CO2 offset to date! Our customers that share the same values as us love our solar array – it helps us better connect with and inspire our core customers.
