Make going solar easier in Colorado

Urge the legislature to make it easier for new homeowners to go solar

Colorado lawmakers are considering a bill to strengthen existing solar standards for newly built homes. Under current standards, newly built homes only have to be wired for solar energy.

The new standards would:

  1.     Guarantee that owners of newly constructed homes have the option to have solar or be solar-ready;
  2.     Provide the option for all newly built homes to be wired for electric vehicle charging; and
  3.     Require information for Energy Star ratings on available options for increased transparency.

This bill is an important step to ensure all Coloradans can benefit from solar energy. Building out solar systems in the construction phase of a new home reduces initial costs. It also makes new homes more energy efficient, which will save homeowners money for the length of their ownership.
