51st State Solar Co-op Round 2 selects EDGE Energy to serve group

The 51st State Solar Co-op has selected EDGE Energy to install solar panels for the 56-member group. A group of co-op participants selected EDGE Energy through a competitive bidding process over three other firms. The group will hold a public information session Wednesday, August 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lamond-Riggs Neighborhood Library, 5401 S Dakota Ave NE, Washington, D.C. 20011 to educate the community about solar and the co-op process.

Co-op participants selected EDGE Energy because of the quality equipment they provide, the care to detail applied to EDGE’s installations and customer interactions, and their confidence in EDGE’s ability to handle a large group of installations.

As a DOEE-funded Solar for All project, the 51st State Solar Co-op is focused on expanding access to solar to households currently unable to afford to cost of installing a system. While the co-op is open to all District residents living in single-family homes no matter their neighborhood or income, eligible low- and moderate-income households can qualify for Solar for All grant funding from DOEE that will cover the cost of going solar. The selection committee included participants eligible for Solar for All grant funding and those paying market rates for their solar installation.

51st State Solar Co-op Round 2

Join our first solar co-op with grants available through the District's Solar for All program to cover the costs of solar installations for income-qualified participants.
join the co-op

The co-op is open to new participants until the October 31 signup deadline. All District residents interested in joining the co-op can sign up at the co-op website. Joining the co-op is not a commitment to purchase panels. EDGE Energy will provide each co-op participant with an individualized proposal based on the group rate. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, participants can save off the cost of going solar and have the support of fellow group members and solar experts at Solar United Neighbors
