Extend the federal solar tax credit

Unless Congress acts this year, the only federal incentive benefiting rooftop solar homeowners will be phased out in three years.

The Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) allows homeowners and businesses to take a one-time 30% tax credit for the cost of solar systems and battery storage on their properties. The current residential solar ITC will step down to zero in 2022 (the commercial credit will drop to a permanent 10%).

Recognizing the ITC’s value to solar customers and our economy, Congress is now considering an extension of the residential 30% tax credit.

Please contact your representatives and urge them to extend the solar ITC. Tell them the 30% tax credit helps millions of Americans to generate their own power and lower their energy bills, while creating economic opportunity and local clean energy jobs for millions of Americans.
