During his more than twenty-year career as an environmental leader and advocate, Glen Brand has served on the staff of several national and state environmental and labor organizations. He served on the national Sierra Club staff for 12 years in a variety of roles, including Director of the “Cool Cities” campaign, the organization’s first nationwide grassroots effort to advocate for local climate solutions. From 2012-2016, he directed Sierra Club’s Maine Chapter.
Glen has been quoted widely in regional and national media outlets including the New York Times, Washington Post, Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times, and the Discovery Channel, and he has been a guest speaker on clean energy issues at many venues throughout the country, as well as in Denmark and Brazil on a U.S. State Department co-sponsored trip.
A graduate of the University of Florida and the University of Houston, Glen is an avid gardener, kayaker, and amateur jazz musician, and each summer he eagerly looks forward to spending time at his family’s cabin on Moosehead Lake in the Maine Woods.
