Bring more solar energy to rural Minnesota!
For many people who are interested in going solar, state tax credit and rebate programs really make the difference in their decision to invest in a rooftop solar system. In Minnesota, solar incentives come from electric utilities. Not all utilities offer them.
That’s why it’s important to urge your state legislators to support HF 1317/SF 2017. This bill would provide a 15% state tax credit for rural electric cooperative and municipal utility customers who purchase a solar energy system (solar panels, hot water solar, and/or battery storage).
Half of the $5 million state tax credit would be available for home systems, with a maximum credit of $5,000. Businesses can apply for up to $20,000 credit. The temporary tax credit phases out in four years.
