Music festival to be entirely powered by solar

Solar United Neighbors of West Virginia is a proud sponsor of the 5th annual Solar Fest, the state’s first and only music festival entirely powered by the sun! Presented by Keeper of the Mountains Foundation, this year’s festival will take place July 6-8 at Cantrell Ultimate Rafting in Fayetteville.

This event brings people together to support musicians, learn about solar energy, and inspire sustainability. More than 20 musical acts are scheduled to appear. Performances will start Friday evening and continue throughout the day on Saturday. Acts include: Qiet, Tom Batchelor Band, Beggars Clan, 2/3 Goat, Long Point String Band, Suburban Sensi, and others. Other festival activities include morning yoga and meditation sessions as well as educational workshops on permaculture and native Appalachian plants. You can also take a trip down the river!

This year’s Solar Fest aligns with the launch of Solar United Neighbors’ latest solar co-op in West Virginia: the New & Gauley Rivers Solar Co-op! This local solar co-op is open to residents and business owners in Summersville, Fayetteville, Richwood, Webster Springs, Oak Hill, Beckley, and surrounding areas. Local co-op partners include Pies & Pints Fayetteville, the League of Women Voters of West Virginia, and the West Virginia Chapter of the Sierra Club.
