Co-op in Hillsborough County releases RFP

Once the co-op receives bids, a selection committee made up of co-op participants will meet to choose the proposal that best fits the needs of the co-op.

The 36-participant Hillsborough Solar Co-op Group B today issued a request for proposals (RFP) from area solar installers. The group participants created the co-op to save money and make going solar easier, while building a network of solar supporters.

Local installers interested in serving the group can download the RFP and response template here. Hillsborough County residents interested in joining the co-op can sign up at www.solarunitedneighbors.org/hillsborough.

Joining the co-op is not a commitment to purchase panels. Co-op participants will select a single company to complete all of the installations. They will then have the option to purchase panels individually based on the installer’s group rate. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, participants can save up off the cost of going solar and have the support of fellow group participants and solar experts at Solar United Neighbors.

The League of Women Voters of Hillsborough County, Hillsborough County, Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County, University of Southern Florida Clean Energy Research Center, Winthrop Town Centre, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, Physicians for Social Responsibility, US Green Building Council Florida Chapter, Sierra Club Tampa Bay Group, and Solar United Neighbors are the co-op sponsors. The group has hosted three info sessions throughout the county.
