MD SUN is seeking an organizer to help us recruit participants for our solar co-ops on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The organizer will set up community meetings, recruit attendees, advertise the initiative, and build interest in each of the co-ops in Cambridge/Dorchester County, Berlin/Ocean City, and Snow Hill. The Organizer will also help identify and facilitate connections with local organizations and community groups, with the goal of recruiting new audiences to attend informational meetings.
Qualified applicants will have organizing experience, a strong understanding of effective organizing techniques, a strong working knowledge of the best ways to advertise events within each of the communities, and ability to turn out a large crowd to each meeting. MD SUN will provide advertising materials, flyers, signs, and other content to support Organizer’s outreach efforts. We are looking for someone who knows the community and can effectively get the word out about our co-ops. Performance expectations will include:
- Scheduling six informational meetings and handle all logistics for setting up meeting (reserving room, set up, etc)
- Turning out 30-50 attendees to each meeting
- Securing four articles in local papers to promote the co-op meetings in coordination with our communications manager
- Identifying opportunities for paid advertisement of co-op and facilitating placement of ads as needed (per coordination with Program Director)
The Organizer will report to the MD SUN Program Director, who will provide guidance on dates and timelines for recruiting participants for each co-op.
The position will be under a contract for six months and payment will be tied to predefined performance metrics specified above.
