In memory of Bill Howley

By Ben Delman on April 28, 2015

Last Thursday, April 23rd, WV SUN Program Director, Bill Howley, was killed in an auto accident. He is survived by his wife Loren, his sons Jacob and Isaac and their families.

Our hearts, thoughts, and condolences go out to them and to all of Bill’s extended family. While we were delighted and honored to have Bill working as our WV SUN Program Director, he was so much more to so many people. His energy blog, The Power Line, educated and inspired all of us.

If you have never read The Power Line, we urge you to dive in. We think it is the best blog on energy in the entire country. Bill’s commitment and dedication to justice, his depth of intellect, and his sense of strategy made him a giant. He lived and breathed his core values. He guided and inspired us and gave us hope, and we are so sad to have lost him.

In lieu of flowers, Bill’s family has asked that donations be made to Heartwood in the Hills, a West Virginia school for the arts, or to WV SUN, a program of Community Power Network that promotes community solar in West Virginia. Donations to WV SUN can be made here: Donate.
