Public Citizen: Proposed Merger Bad Deal for DC

By Ben Delman on March 20, 2015

Allison Fisher from Public Citizen took a close look at the proposed Exelon-Pepco merger. What she found should make D.C. residents very concerned:

Exelon’s nuclear fleet is in financial turmoil. To address the failing economics of nuclear power, Exelon is pursuing schemes to prop up these plants, maximize their returns and shield shareholders from the risks associated with their continued operation – all of which is in conflict with the best interest of electricity customers.

There is still time for D.C. residents to act. The District Public Service Commission has the authority to approve the merger. They are accepting comments from the public. You can make your voice heard here.
