Solar gets big win at the polls; More work to be done in November

By Ben Delman on September 1, 2016

On Tuesday, Florida voters resoundingly voted in favor of solar. Voters passed Amendment 4 by an impressive 72-28% margin. Amendment 4 will reduce the tax burden placed on solar in Florida, helping us lower our energy costs. This will allow more Floridians to go solar.

The focus now turns to November where the state’s utilities are pushing a separate ballot measure, Amendment 1. If passed, this misleading amendment would severely restrict our right to go solar. It would give Florida’s monopoly utilities the constitutional right to impose unfair charges on Floridians who want to go solar.
