Join us for the 2018 Ohio Solar Congress

The Ohio Solar Congress is a free public conference that brings together solar supporters from across the state to learn and discuss the current state and future for solar energy in Ohio. The day will include a series of presentations about solar technology and policy topics as well as ways to get involved with helping to grow solar in Ohio.

Topics will include: solar 101, residential solar + storage, how to best advocate for solar, success stories, working through local barriers to solar, and much more! The event will conclude with a participatory open forum discussion for all attendees to discuss priorities and opportunities that solar supporters in Ohio should focus on in the coming year.

This event is FREE and open to the public. Everyone is welcome to attend! Whether you are a solar homeowner, completely new to solar, or somewhere in between – this event is for you!

9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. – Doors open, registration, breakfast (provided)

10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. – Welcome remarks: The State of Solar in Ohio

10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. – Presentations (Sessions 1 and 2)

12:15 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. – Lunch (provided), informal networking, Electric Vehicle Showcase

1:15 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. – Presentations (Sessions 3 and 4)

2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. – Participatory Open Forum Discussion about solar priorities and opportunities in Ohio

3:45 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. – Closing remarks

  • Solar 101 information session
  • Solar + Storage in the residential setting
  • Ohio General Assembly – Overview of bills going through the assembly and ways to take action
  • The economic impact of solar and solar jobs
  • How to talk to your Public Utilities Commissioner
  • How to overcome local barriers to solar (HOAs, historic districts, and other success stories)
  • Solar and renewable energy projects in the community (case studies from across the state)

Interested in volunteering at the Ohio Solar Congress? We are seeking the following volunteer support:

1. Volunteer videographer (2 – 3 volunteers) – we are looking for volunteer videographers with their own high resolution video camera to film presentations and footage during the event.

*If you don’t have a video camera, but would be interested in Facebook live-ing presentations by filming them on your smart phone and streaming them live through our Facebook page, we are looking volunteers to assist with this as well!

2. Volunteer photographer (1 volunteer) – we are looking for a photographer with their own high resolution camera to capture great photos of the event throughout the day.

3. Event set up, clean up, and sign-in table support (4 – 6 volunteers) – we are looking for volunteers to help set up before the Solar Congress, clean up after the event, and staff the sign in/registration table at the start of the event.
