What is happening
Right now, thousands of solar homeowners in Colorado can’t turn their systems on because of bureaucratic delays from Xcel Energy. Some Coloradans have been forced to wait more than six months for their system to be connected to the grid.
This means homeowners can’t begin to recoup their investment. It also means solar energy is going to waste. In the long-term, this problem disincentivizes Coloradans from going solar. Colorado should be doing everything it can to encourage adoption of rooftop solar, not slowing it down.
These delays are avoidable. The Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) can force Xcel to act more quickly.
The Senate Finance Committee is reviewing the bill on Tuesday February 21, 2023.
Contact your state representatives and the Senate Finance Committee members and urge them to make this amendment.
