Went solar with the Lincoln Park Solar Co-op in 2016
System size: 5.6 kW, 17 solar panels

Why did you decide to go solar?

Primarily, I did this as my contribution to the environment. The fact that there were good financial incentives certainly helped.

Why did you decide to go solar with the co-op?

The co-op had my interests at the forefront, rather than the salespeople I would need to interact with if I went through the solar panel companies. Going through the co-op also provided some financial benefit and co-op staff answered my questions promptly.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to go solar?

If you can swing it financially, and will be in your house for a few years, it is definitely worth it.

Has anything surprised you about going solar?

My electric bill this month was $11!!

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

The process for getting the solar panels took several months longer than the company had suggested.  Ultimately, the installers did a good job, but I wish that I had a better understanding of the multi-step process and how long it would take. I am very glad the co-op was there to help navigate the process.
