Protecting D.C. residents’ right to interconnect their systems

September 23, 2017 D.C., Policy wins

Beginning in 2008, Solar United Neighbors of D.C. (then called D.C. SUN) began regularly intervening on issues such as smart meters and net metering rules with the D.C. Public Service Commission. We also began watchdogging the local utility, Pepco, and advocating for consumer net metering and smart metering rights. We worked closely with the D.C. government’s Sustainable Energy Utility solar program to ensure it was run fairly and effectively. While it isn’t always perfect, the District now has a much better interconnection process than when we started in 2008.
