Success Story: RE-volv helps San Francisco co-op achieve solar dream

San Francisco-based CPN member RE-volv recently scored a significant victory in its innovative strategy to spread solar energy to nonprofits through crowdfunding. In a successful campaign through the Indiegogo website, it easily achieved its goal of raising funds for a 36kW solar array for Other Avenues, a decades-old worker-owned cooperative which serves local, organic foods and sustainable lifestyle products, and which is based in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset neighborhood. Following its Solar Seed financing model, RE-volv will provide the array to Other Avenues through a 20-year lease agreement, the payments for which will then be reinvested to help fund three similar projects. This installation, which is estimated to account for a third of Other Avenues’ electrical needs, is expected, according to this article, to save $335,000 in energy costs over the next 25 years. Additionally, the array will allow Other Avenues to avoid the release of 24,000 pounds of carbon dioxide, as well as other pollutants, each year. Now, the co-op’s “green” energy use will match its commitment to sustainable foods and other products.

Congratulations to RE-volv on this stunning success!
