Solar Advocacy: Tell legislators: Speed up solar interconnections!

Help more schools, churches, homes, and businesses go solar

What is happening

Let’s help more people go solar in a timely, cost effective way.

Solar owners need permission from their utility to turn their systems on and interconnect to the electric grid. This should happen in 30 days for residential and 60 days for non-residential systems. But, some solar customers are waiting months for approval. And, utilities are not receiving any penalties for these delays.

Dominion Energy is blocking more than 50 solar projects on schools, churches, community organizations, and businesses because of unnecessary and cumbersome  requirements. This reduces solar savings for customers and increases costs for solar companies.

We need to ensure fair costs and reasonable interconnection timelines for these solar projects. We also need to hold utilities accountable and ensure penalties for delays. Encourage key legislators to support SB 346 & HB 117 to improve solar interconnection and help more solar connect to the grid!
