What is happening
Duke Energy has proposed ending net metering for rooftop solar in North Carolina. Net metering provides fair credit for solar energy shared with neighbors. Duke’s proposal would decimate rooftop solar in the state.
Duke’s plan would make rooftop solar:
- more complicated,
- a weaker investment, and
- even less accessible for low- to moderate-income households.
Duke Energy is thwarting rooftop solar so it can earn billions of dollars by building 50 new fossil-fuel power plants.
