The Hillsborough and North Pinellas County co-ops release RFP, announce informaion sessions

The 150-member Hillsborough County Solar Co-op and 60-member North Pinellas County Solar Co-op today issued requests for proposals (RFP) from area solar installers. The group members created the co-op to save money and make going solar easier, while building a network of solar supporters. Both groups have scheduled several information meetings (details below) to educate the community about solar and the co-op process.

Local installers interested in serving the group can click to download the Hillsborough County RFP, the North Pinellas County RFP and response template.

Hillsborough County residents interested in joining the co-op can sign up at the co-op website. Pinellas County residents living north of State Road 60 and in Clearwater can sign up at the co-op website. Joining the co-op is not a commitment to purchase panels. Co-op members will select a single company to complete all of the installations. They will then have the option to purchase panels individually based on the installer’s group rate. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, participants ensure they are getting a quality installation at a good price.

The League of Women Voters, Hillsborough County, League of Women Voters North Pinellas, Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County, University of Southern Florida Clean Energy Research Center, Winthrop Town Centre, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, Physicians for Social Responsibility, US Green Building Council Florida Chapter, Sierra Club Tampa Bay Group, Sierra Club Suncoast Group, City of Safety Harbor, City of Tarpon Springs, City of Dunedin, Unitarian Universalist Church of Tarpon Springs and Solar United Neighbors of Florida are the co-op sponsors.
