Participants in New & Gauley Rivers Solar Co-op seek installer

By Ben Delman on September 11, 2018

The 31-participant New & Gauley Rivers Solar Co-op has issued a request for proposals (RFP) from area solar installers. The group participants created the co-op to save money and make going solar easier, while building a network of solar supporters. A selection committee, made up of volunteer co-op participants, will convene soon to review the proposals and select an installer.

Local installers interested in serving the group are encouraged to download the RFP and response template. Residents of Fayette County, Raleigh County, Nicholas County, and Webster County can sign up for the co-op at the co-op web page.

The solar co-op is free to join and joining is not a commitment to purchase panels. Co-op participants will select a single company to complete all of the installations. They will then have the option to purchase panels individually based on the installer’s group rate. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, participants can save up off the cost of going solar and have the support of fellow group participants and solar experts at Solar United Neighbors.

Keeper of the Mountains, League of Women Voters of West Virginia, Pies and Pints, Secret Sandwich Society, Sierra Club – West Virginia Chapter, Warm Hands From Warms Hearts – Fayette County, and Water Stone Outdoors are the co-op sponsors.
