Allegheny County Solar Co-op selects Envinity to serve group, helping to create new solar jobs
The Allegheny County Solar Co-op has selected State College-based company Envinity to install solar panels for the 41-participant group. Co-op participants selected Envinity through a competitive bidding process over three other firms. This selection played a part in the firm’s decision to open a new Pittsburgh office in January 2019, bringing new jobs to Allegheny County.
The Allegheny County Solar Co-op is still open to new participants. Interested community members from around Allegheny County can attend an upcoming information session at the Sewickley Public Library on Monday, November 5 starting at 6:30 p.m. to learn more (full information below).

When Envinity opens its new Pittsburgh office, it plans to hire additional solar installers, designers, and sales team members. It also plans to establish a solar training program to help area residents learn the skills needed for a career in the solar industry, and to play an active role in promoting a solar-powered future for Pennsylvania.
Solar United Neighbors expands access to solar energy by educating Pennsylvania residents about the benefits of distributed solar energy, helping them organize group solar installations through solar co-ops, and strengthening Pennsylvania’s solar policies and its community of solar supporters. Nationally, solar co-ops have helped more than 3,360 homes install solar, investing roughly $63.5 million in the solar economy.
Co-op participants selected Envinity because of their very attractive price, high quality products, strong warranties, and good track record of installs.
“We have been interested in getting solar panels for our home for a while,” said Donna Pearson, Allegheny County selection committee participant. “I feel like this solar co-op was a chance for my family to get the best price for our investment. It is also nice to be a part of a group of people in our community who are making that same leap into solar energy, and to receive independent resources and information from Solar United Neighbors. Our involvement with this co-op has answered many questions and helped us to see that solar energy can be a reality for us.”

Joining the co-op is not a commitment to purchase panels. Envinity will provide each co-op participant with an individualized proposal based on the group rate. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, participants can save off the cost of going solar and have the support of fellow group participants and solar experts at Solar United Neighbors.
