Who will be crowned America’s favorite solar craft brewery?

Voting is open for the Second Annual Brews from the Sun Competition!

Brews from the Sun is an opportunity to celebrate the more than 130 breweries around the country that are brewing their beer using solar energy. Solar supporters and craft beer enthusiasts can vote for their favorite brewery that has gone solar.

“Brews from the Sun is our way of raising a glass to breweries across the country that have gone solar,” said Anya Schoolman, Solar United Neighbors Executive Director. “They are going solar to save money and take control of where their electricity comes from with a clean energy source.”

Brews from the Sun in 2018

The Brews from the Sun competition is now in its second year. In 2018, thousands of solar and beer enthusiasts from around the country voted for 41 different breweries. Our winner was Mudshark Brewery of Lake Havasu, Arizona. Runners up were Legal Remedy Brewing of South Carolina, and Flathead Lake Brewing Company of Montana.

What’s new this year

This year we’re changing thing up. We have three categories of competitors: brewpub, microbrewery, or regional brewery. Prizes for first place, first runner-up, and second runner-up will be given in each category based on the highest number of unique votes each brewery receives. Voters may vote for as many breweries as they like, but only one vote per brewery per person will be counted. Anyone can vote on brewsfromthesun.org through June 15.

Solar-powered beer is just the beginning

Brews from the Sun isn’t just about celebrating craft breweries that have gone solar. It’s also showcasing how solar power is making a difference for small, local businesses, and helping to transform our energy system, one community at a time. That’s why we’ve developed a solar guide to help other breweries through the process. The more that local businesses and communities can take advantage of clean, sustainable energy, the sooner we’ll have a national clean energy system that works for all of us.
