Solar United Neighbors stands in support of Black lives

Communities of color, particularly the Black community, have been been disproportionately harmed by our current energy system. These communities face worse health outcomes because of dirty fossil fuel generation, suffer a higher energy burden, are more likely to face the life-threatening impacts of unfair utility shut-off policies, and are excluded from ownership of their energy future.

We recognize that environmental racism is part of the larger problem of structural racism, one that results in deadly police violence against Black people, including George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and many others. We support groups, communities, and our neighbors on the front lines who fight for racial justice.

As an organization that works with local communities to democratize energy and expand access to solar power, it’s clear to us that a clean and just energy system must include everyone — and leave no one behind.
