Why did you decide to go solar?
For a number of years I was interested in Solar, for the benefits of independence from power utility, obtaining backup, and contributing to a better solution for our global impact. Solar United presented an opportunity to gain from well educated individuals through a not for profit organization which provided the support and assistance through the entire process. For me this was a game changer in moving forward. There is no doubt I was blessed in saving significantly in the purchase, as well as obtaining a much more robust solution with higher overall value and performance.
What was the process like for you? Did anything surprise you, or were there challenges you had to overcome?
After a number of years of attempting to educate myself and ironically believing I had obtain the wisdom required to make an educated evaluation and selection, Solar United removed so many unknown or hidden details which vendors simply did not offer in their sales tactics. Solar United lifted the veil by what one would think as common sense. However, the Solar 101 guidance provided gave insight to all considerations, options, and the details. They took the information and made it digestible to everyone. Added resources to provide 1 on 1 and 1 to many discussions. In the organization, one joins individual with the common objective of concentrating on all Solar details. My challenge transition from not actually being informed to now being enabled to make an educated decision. Them stepping it up by offering the CoOp to gain savings and maximize the technologies available.
Have any of your habits changed since going solar?
Once the CoOp was established and the vendor selected, I immediately purchased an EV. My system included the Home Charger, panels to supply the inclusion of an EV requirements. I was the first to sign contract with our CoOp. The homework was done, the CoOp team collaboration with guidance from Solar United selected the most effective and highest positive reviewed installer. We now were ready to move forward and become a Solar Owner.
Have you seen electricity savings since going solar? If so, what have you been able to do with that savings?
The system has continued to exceed expectations especially coming out of our rainy season to seeing significant solar production. The investment was significant, but the savings have paid for the system financing and continue towards a net zero expense for car fuel and home power. Our average electrical bill was above $400.00 with another gas fuel of $320.00. I am now spending an average of $80.00 per month.
Have you been involved in any solar advocacy since becoming a solar owner?
At every opportunity, I engage in communicating with local, state, and federal politicians to voice the need of sponsoring clean and renewable energy. The need to assure our united voice reaches all those who can impact the positive growth and support of all renewables is imperative. The lobbyist and utilities deep pockets continue to be a threat of the best interest of our environment, continuants, and the future of our world.
What advice would you give to someone considering going solar?
Leverage the knowledge and skills of Solar United for honest and factual data. Do not attempt to go at it alone. The cost can be extremely high without all the benefits you deserve.

Its our responsibility to our children, each other, and the planet, to engage in understanding how humanity impacts both negatively and positively. We must make the effort to contribute to positive change when ever possible. Be the change you want to see in the world.
