CPN selected to provide technical assistance in Nationwide Solar Innovation Competition

By Isabel Ricker on March 3, 2017

Solar in Your Community ChallengeCommunity Power Network is excited to announce we have been selected as a consultant for the new Solar in Your Community Challenge! The Challenge is a $5 million prize competition from the Department of Energy’s SunShot Initiative. The initiative aims to expand solar access to low- and moderate-income (LMI) households; state, local, and tribal governments; and non-profit organizations. We are serving as a consultant to support teams across the country as they demonstrate innovative, scalable business and financial models that can open new solar markets and benefit underserved communities.

One of the teams we will be working with is implementing a project to help Maryland affordable housing providers in Maryland’s new community solar program. The team is led by Clean Energy Solutions, the Solar Foundation, and Enlightened Energy Consultants, and will be working closely with the Maryland Association of Housing and Redevelopment Agencies (MAHRA). MAHRA is an umbrella organization for the state’s 31 public housing authorities. We are very excited to support this effort to make solar accessible for low-income residents!

There is still time to apply to participate in the Challenge. The deadline to apply is March 17. This is an excellent opportunity for groups with amazing solar project that needs funding and recognition. Plus, participating in the challenge can enable you to receive technical assistance from CPN for free! We know that our network has some incredibly game changing ideas, and we would love to work with you. You can participate in the Challenge as a team, a consultant, or a coach. Learn more at www.solarinyourcommunity.org and apply by March 17!
