How does the Solar Switch program work?

DC Solar Switch organizes group-purchasing of residential solar panels to help homeowners receive a significantly discounted price for a solar panel installation. Texas Solar Switch organizes a reverse-auction where pre-vetted solar installers compete against each other to offer their best price. The winning offer will be made available for the homeowners that registered for the program.

    1. Register: Interested participants can find out if their roof is suitable for panels with a simple roof test. If your roof is suitable, you can leave your details to receive a personalized offer. Note: You will not receive sales calls from us or from installers. Your information will not be shared with third parties.
    2. Auction: A reverse-auction with qualified installers will be held on December 7. The installer who is able to offer the largest discount, wins the auction. The more people that register, the better the deal will be.
    3. Personalized offer: By January 11, you will receive a personalized offer based on your roof. This will include your estimated costs and return on investment, and what you can expect to produce.
    4. You decide: The decision is yours! You can accept the offer to proceed, or you can decline. There is no obligation to continue. If you choose to accept an offer, you will be asked to pay a $150 deposit. This deposit will be taken off your total payment for the solar installation. The deposit will also be refunded if the site survey determines that your original quote is not possible. You will have until February 21 to decide if you would like to accept or decline.
    5. Installation: If you accept the offer, the winning installer will contact you for a site survey and set an installation date.

Hello and thank you for checking out the solar co-op!

Whether you’re just curious about solar, or you’re ready to make the switch now, I’m here to help. I can answer any questions you have about solar. I’ll give you installer-neutral guidance to help you make an informed, confident decision about going solar.

My background spans chemical engineering, research, solar PV systems & program management. I work throughout the Capital Area, helping communities go solar, join together, and fight for energy rights. Solar co-ops are a big part of this work!

I love seeing fellow Washingtonians harvesting sunshine to lower their electric bills and build a clean, equitable energy system in their communities!

Take a look around the co-op page, and let me know how I can help you today.
