Co-op participants in Orange County seek installer
The 52-participant Orange County West Solar Co-op today issued a request for proposals (RFP) from area solar installers. The group participants created the co-op to save money and make going solar easier, while building a network of solar supporters. The group also announced it will host an information meeting on Monday, June 4 at the John Bridges Community Center to educate the community about solar and the co-op process.
Local installers interested in serving the group can download the RFP and response template. Orange County residents west of I-4 interested in joining the co-op can sign up at the co-op web page.
The co-op is free to join and joining the co-op is not a commitment to purchase panels. Co-op participants will select a single company to complete all of the installations. They will then have the option to purchase panels individually based on the installer’s group rate. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, participants can save up off the cost of going solar and have the support of fellow group particpants and solar experts at Solar United Neighbors.
Orange County Government, Orange County: Our Home for Life, Sierra Club Central Florida Chapter, Orange Audubon Society, Winter Park Garden Club, First Unitarian Church or Orlando, University of Florida IFAS Orange County Extension, Rollins College, and the NAACP Orange County Branch are the co-op sponsors.
