Co-op participants in St. Pete seek installer

The 48-participant St. Pete Winter Solar Co-op today issued a request for proposals (RFP) from area solar installers. The group participants created the co-op to save money and make going solar easier, while building a network of solar supporters. The group is hosting an information meeting tonight, February 7, and March 21 to educate the community about solar and the co-op process. See below for information session details.

Installers interested in serving the group can download the RFP here and the response template here. Residents of St. Pete and Pinellas County living south of Clearwater and State Road 60, who are interested in joining the co-op, can sign up at the co-op web page.

Joining the co-op is not a commitment to purchase panels. Co-op participants will select a single company to complete all of the installations. They will then have the option to purchase panels individually based on the installer’s group rate. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, participants can save up off the cost of going solar and have the support of fellow group participants and solar experts at Solar United Neighbors.

The League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area, Sierra Club Suncoast Group, the City of St. Petersburg, Chart 411, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, St. Petersburg Ecovillage, and Floridians for Solar Choice are the co-op sponsors.
