New co-op forms in Salisbury

By Brandon Walton on August 17, 2015

MD SUN is helping neighbors in Salisbury form a solar co-op to make it easier to save money on the purchase of solar panels and build a community interested in solar. The group is seeking members. It will host an information session on September 10 (details below) to educate the public about solar energy and how the co-op simplifies the process of going solar, while providing a discount through members’ bulk purchasing power.

Salisbury residents interested in joining the co-op can sign up at: www.mdsun.org/salisbury.  Joining the co-op is not a commitment to purchase panels. Once the group is large enough, MD SUN will help the co-op solicit competitive bids from area solar installers, and select a single company to complete all of the installations. Individual co-op members will have the option to choose a system size and price based upon the installer’s offer. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, each participant generally saves up to 20% off the cost of their system.

Co-op information session: Thursday, September 10 at 7 p.m., Salisbury Chamber of Commerce, 144 E Main St, Salisbury, MD 21801 – Click here to RSVP
