Solar co-ops seek installers in the Eastern Panhandle

By Ben Delman on February 13, 2018

Solar co-ops in the Eastern Panhandle today released requests for proposals from area installers to serve their groups. The 26-member combined Jefferson, Berkeley & Morgan Counties Solar Co-op and the 15-member Potomac Highlands Solar Co-op will review bids through an open, competitive process. The group members created the co-op to save money and make going solar easier, while building a network of solar supporters.

Local installers interested in serving the group can click to download the Jefferson, Berkeley and Morgan co-op RFP here and Potomac Highlands RFP here. Installers can find a response template suitable for either co-op here. Those interested in joining the co-op can sign up at for the Jefferson County solar co-op here, the Berkeley & Morgan Counties Solar Co-op here, and the Potomac Highlands Solar Co-op here.

Joining the co-op is not a commitment to purchase panels. Co-op participants will select a single company to complete all of the installations. They will then have the option to purchase panels individually based on the installer’s group rate.

The Sierra Club – West Virginia Chapter, League of Women Voters of West Virginia, Renew Jefferson, Women’s March of West Virginia, and Sustainable Jefferson County are sponsors of the Jefferson and Berekeley & Morgan Counties co-op.
