Hillsborough and North Pinellas County residents forming solar co-ops to go solar together, get a discount

Homeowners in Hillsborough and North Pinellas County are joining together to form solar co-ops. The groups will help homeowners save money and make going solar easier, while building a network of solar supporters. Both groups will hold information sessions to educate the community about solar and recruit new members. Information session dates and locations are below.
Hillsborough County homeowners interested in joining the co-op can sign up here. North Pinellas homeowners can sign up here. Once the groups are large enough, FL SUN will help the co-op solicit competitive bids from area solar installers.
Co-op members will select a single company to complete all of the installations. They will then have the option to purchase panels individually based on the installer’s group rate. By going solar as a group and choosing a single installer, participants ensure the best price and a quality installation.
The Hillsborough group is being sponsored by the League of Women Voters, Hillsborough County, Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County, University of Southern Florida Clean Energy Research Center, Winthrop Town Centre, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, Physicians for Social Responsibility, US Green Building Council Florida Chapter, Sierra Club Tampa Bay Group.
