Solar United Neighbors expands to New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Southwest Florida

By Ben Delman on January 10, 2018

We’re excited to announce our community of solar supporters is growing!

This year is starting strong with Solar United Neighbors launching new state programs in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We’re also adding a staff member in Southwest Florida to better serve solar co-ops in the Tampa-St. Pete area.

Each new place presents exciting opportunities to spread the benefits of solar energy and build a national network of solar supporters.

Pennsylvania recently closed its SREC market to out of state buyers. This move will make it easier for Pennsylvanians to go solar themselves. We look forward to helping the state’s nascent solar market grow and helping to bring lessons learned on community solar to our new partners in Pennsylvania. We are committed to helping build a solar market that benefits everyone in the state!

New Jersey has among the highest rates of solar adoption in the country. We are excited to work with this existing base of solar homeowners.

Nearly 150 homes have gone solar with one of our solar co-ops in Southwest Florida. Growing our presence there will enable us to help even more people go solar.

This expansion builds on another successful year for Solar United Neighbors.

We rolled out this new name in October. We also launched a new membership program. This is designed to help more people go solar and support their long-term needs in a way no existing organization does. In the meantime, we also helped nearly 900 homes go solar, generating more than 7.5 MW of solar energy.

We are looking forward to working with you in 2018! Happy New Year.
