Solar United Neighbors is a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping communities go solar, join together, and fight for their clean energy rights. We believe the transition to clean energy should be led by real people, and the benefits of clean energy technologies—solar, in particular—should be available to everyone. We organize communities to help them go solar together and make smart investments in clean energy technologies, then empower them to build an enduring solar movement that fights for accessible, affordable clean energy.

Since our humble grassroots beginnings in 2007, we have expanded across the country to help thousands of people access the benefits of solar energy. We’ve helped more than 3,500 homes and businesses go solar through our local solar co-ops, investing $63 million into local economies through solar installations. We’ve offered solar education to nearly 25,000 individuals through our public information sessions and have organized thousands more into a solar constituency actively fighting for clean energy rights in their communities through events and online programming.

And now, we’re coming to the Hoosier state!

As a native Hoosier, I couldn’t be more excited to be back home again in Indiana to help launch the 12th on-the-ground state program earlier this year. Solar United Neighbors of Indiana will help Hoosiers across the state access affordable solar energy installations and organize a statewide movement of solar supporters to fight for a renewable energy future for Indiana that prioritizes accessibility, local control, and customer benefits.

Indiana’s small-but-mighty community of solar advocates has done tremendous work expanding solar from South Bend to Evansville. We’ll help the solar movement continue to grow and further increase solar access by organizing local solar co-ops that help neighbors go solar together and get a great deal on the solar system that’s right for them through the group’s bulk purchasing power. We’ll provide solar education across the state to teach residents and businesses about solar technology, the installation process, and solar economics. We’ll make solar fun for everyone—not just those of us interested in installing panels on their roof—by hosting solar-focused community events and festivals. And, finally, we’ll organize Indiana’s diverse community of renewable energy supporters into a vibrant new solar movement—one that will fight for policies that promote energy freedom and protect property rights while helping to build markets that make sure every Hoosier can access the benefits of solar energy. To be successful, we’ll need our movement to be strong across the state. Will you join us?
