UMD College Park Staff, City Residents Select MD-Based Astrum Solar to Complete Bulk Installation
WASHINGTON, DC – May 12th, 2014: The University of Maryland, College Park’s Office of Sustainability and Community Power Network have organized more than 35 employees, families, and other supporters in the College Park, MD area to go solar together. After a competitive bidding process the group of homeowners has selected Maryland-based Astrum Solar to install systems for all of the participants. Organized with the help of College Park’s Committee for a Better Environment, the collaboration is enabling participating homeowners to install solar panels on their homes at deeply discounted rates, including zero-down options.
The group of homeowners worked with local nonprofit Community Power Network (CPN) to facilitate the process. CPN, which has implemented several bulk purchase programs in the region, solicited competitive bids from a number of local installers on behalf of the group.
Astrum’s vast experience and history of success with managing bulk purchase programs was the major deciding factor in their selection. Each participant in the program will have their own system installed through individual contracts with the company.
