I’ve dreamed of going solar, and loved the community initiative.

What interested you about going solar initially? Why do you support solar energy?

It’s been a long-time dream to add solar panels.  I want to do all I can to decrease dependency on fossil fuels.

Why did you choose to go solar with a solar co-op? What benefits did you experience going solar with a co-op?

I thought the co-op was a great way to realize cost savings while, at the same time, supporting an important community initiative. Going solar with a co-op meant I did not have to do all the research and cost comparing of the myriad of solar companies. The co-op team did that hard work on our behalf.

Has anything surprised you about going solar?

I honestly had no idea that we might owe nothing some months. We are a busy family of four living in a big house.  I figured we would always need more power than our solar array could produce.  We were so please to find that was not the case.  Many months we have owed Duke only a small service fee.

What advice would you give to someone is considering going solar?

If there is a co-op in your town, join!  It’s a great way to obtain savings on your purchase and to learn a lot about the benefits of going solar.
