[We] don’t want to support/use dirty energy like coal
Why did you decide to go solar with the co-op?
Saves money and we love all types of cooperatives.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to go solar?
Has anything surprised you about going solar?
How low our bills have been.
How much was your electric bill before and after going solar?
Before solar our bills were about $64/month and now they are about $24/month.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Our main issue is in the winter the snow prevents us from making power. Our roof isn’t steep but it is high and so far we haven’t figured out how to get the snow off of the panels. If it is really cold after a snow the snow doesn’t melt off of the panels very fast even though we face south and even if it is sunny. The sun has to be blasting to warm things up enough to melt the snow. Our gray West Virginia winters with short days means that sometimes we go days with our panels covered with snow.
