Why did you decide to go solar?

I was thinking about going scholar for a while but what decided me to act on it was attending one of the information meetings done by SUN. The information that made a difference were: 1) that most houses in the Cinci area can produce meaningful amount of electricity via solar, 2) that the Coop would choose the installer based on quality, experience and price, 3) that the installer would take care of all the paperwork, and 4) that substantial tax rebates were still in place in 2021 and 2022, but maybe not later.

What was the process like for you? Did anything surprise you, or were there challenges you had to overcome?

The process was smooth but long. It took >6-months to get all the permits.

Have any of your habits changed since going solar?

My panels were just installed. The water heater is old, and I wanted to replace it. I will certainly choose an electric heater now. I have also considered installing more mini-splits (I already have one in a difficult to heat and difficult to air condition bedroom, and it works remarkably well).

What advice would you give to someone considering going solar?

To find a coop, as it saves a lot of time and provides more peace of mind.
