Indiana County Solar Co-op

System size: 13.44 kW

Why did you decide to go solar?

In the future, energy is going to become more scarce and expensive. I think if you have the means to go solar, you should in order to help have a non-polluting production of energy.

How was your experience with the solar co-op?

When I first went solar on my business two years ago, I went to the solar tour that was part of the co-op. I got to go to sites that already had solar installed and see the different types – roof and ground mounts, someone had a car charger, and storage. I got to ask questions about all the technology, the installation, and billing. That was the start for me.

This time, I joined the co-op to go solar on my home and farm. The 30% solar tax credit was a pretty big help. Now I know how solar works because of my office’s system, and it’s very effective. We have a lot of clouds, but it still produces a lot of energy. That made me confident that solar on my home and farm would make sense.

What advice would you give to someone considering going solar?

Get as much information as you can. Get someone you can trust, like SUN, to tell you what is available, and what’s going to be efficient. It was a good investment for me, and I know it would be a good investment for lots of others.
