Why did you decide to go solar?

Saving money long term, to promote energy efficiency, and using resources we have. Solar just makes sense in Florida, the Sunshine State! Pictures provided was from when we first installed solar, years ago. My neighbor’s power bill was $400 last month, and mine was $140 for a similar house. Solar works when done right!

Did anything surprise you about the process of going solar?

It was a longer process than I expected with the installation, inspections, and changes that the energy company had to make. Sadly, there weren’t any state or power company incentives to go with solar power, so that was disappointing.

Why did you choose to go solar with Solar United Neighbors?

I liked the co-op feature and the ability to RFP companies and buy as a group. I felt more involved and informed.

What benefits did you experience going solar with a co-op?

Group RFP let us have buying power. Resources and help during the process too.

Do you have any data about your solar system performance? What electricity savings have you seen since going solar?

Live since 2017. About 14 Mwh created annually. Approximately 166 tons of CO2 offset per annum. Saved over $160 per month. Our system will “break even” in two more years.

What advice would you give to someone considering going solar?
