Why did you decide to go solar?

I wanted to harness the power of the sun in order to reduce my electric bill and to reduce my carbon footprint.

Did anything surprise you about the process of going solar?

It was relatively easy to go solar. Since going solar in 2019, I literally had to do no maintenance to my system and had no issues with it at all.

What benefits do you experience going solar with a co-op?

I joined the co-op for free and received free advice and information around solar equipment and financing. I was also part of the committee that decided which installer to choose. In addition, I was able to benefit from bulk pricing for solar co-op members which saved me a lot of money.

Do you have any data about your solar system performance? What electricity savings have you seen since going solar?

I used to have an average electric bill of about $150-$200. Since going solar, my electric bill is only $30 a month, which is the minimum price for FPL.

What advice would you give to someone considering going solar?

Get estimates from different installers in order to get the best price and also find the best equipment. Join the solar co-op!
