Capital Area Solar Switch, 2023

Why did you decide to go solar?

To offset electricity costs and contribute to the renewable energy generation and addressing climate change at the same time.

What was the process like for you? Did anything surprise you, or were there challenges you had to overcome?

The surprise was the amount of details to consider while selecting an installer and designing the system for our needs. But the installer that was chosen for us worked with us every step of the way to make this easier.

Have any of your habits changed since going solar? (For example: driving an electric car or bike, switching to an electric stove or water heater, etc.)

With the solar generation app, we learned our consumption profiles and where we were wasting electricity. Not only are we generating electricity, we are limiting energy use appropriately as well.

Have you seen electricity savings since going solar? If so, what have you been able to do with that savings?

Yes.

Have you been involved in any solar advocacy since becoming a solar owner?

Yes, a couple of our friends also went solar based on our experience.

What advice would you give to someone considering going solar?

Work with your installer to right size your system for your needs. If you do have an electric car that you charge at home, solar is the way to go.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Thank you SUN for the seamless process to help identify our installer and the discounts that made solar a reality for us.
