The installation was quick and easy, solar increased home value.

Went solar with the Ward 2 Solar Co-op in 2015
System size: 5 kW, 20 solar panels

Why did you decide to go solar?

I wanted to be more environmentally conscious and save money on electricity in the long run. Going solar also increased the overall value of our home.

Has anything surprised you about going solar?

I was very surprised at how quickly installation went — when experienced people are installing well-established panels, it was super quick and easy.

Do you have any data on your system’s performance?

The first year (Nov 16, 2015 to Nov 15, 2016) showed 5.11MW production — but that included some unusually bad weather in the winter (2 days production lost due to the snow cover from the blizzard).  There will be highs and lows throughout the year, but it definitely saved us a ton on our electric bill and this years daily numbers have been better than the first year.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

The MyEnlighten web page and app are a font of knowledge on how the system is working each day. You can track the production in 15-minute increments!  Most companies probably have this kind of site/app, but I have been very pleased with all the data and how easy it is to see how much you’re saving.
