Why did you decide to go solar?

1. To help the environment
2. To make money

Did anything surprise you about the process of going solar?

It was relatively easy. What most surprises me is that so many homeowners with a sunny spot and a few thousand dollars to invest aren’t jumping at the opportunity to get a great return on a financial investment while helping to fight climate change. Going solar to me was a no brainer; a win-win. How could I NOT go solar after realizing the personal and global benefits?!

Do you have any data about your solar system performance? Have you seen electricity savings since going solar?

In the 4 and 1/2 years I’ve had solar panels on my roof, CO2 emission saved = 60,492 pounds, the equivalent of 457 trees planted. I’m getting an 8% return on my investment.

What advice would you give to someone considering going solar?

Call a solar installer and get a free quote. It takes only a little time. If you have investments, if you own stocks or bonds, if you have a 401K, if you care about climate change and if you have sunny patch on any land you have access to, do it!

Anything else you’d like to add?

I have become such a passionate solar point person in my community, I actually made a short film that has won awards!
