Hillsborough 2023 Co-op

System Size: 11.4 kW

We couldn’t be happier with SUN and Region Solar! Both made the entire process easy and stress free.

Why did you decide to go solar?

Good investment, to become more energy independent and to do my part in helping the environment.

Did anything surprise you about the process of going solar?

Not really, as I already had an existing system.

Why did you choose to go solar with Solar United Neighbors?

I like the idea of having installers vetted and the experience and expertise the SUN employees provided to the group as well as getting a good group installation rate.

What benefits did you experience going solar with a co-op?

The fine details from RFPs and their commitment to help a large group of members go solar as a team.

Do you have any data about your solar system performance? What electricity savings have you seen since going solar?

It’s only been two days but looks like my electric bill will be zero for at least a few months of the year.

What advice would you give to someone considering going solar?

Do your due dilligence and learn as much as you can about how solar works and some footwork on available systems and types before choosing your options.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Thanks so much to SUN for coordinating the co-op and helping the selection committee to choose a great installer, Region Solar.

We were able to add 7.2 kW of new solar to a metal shed in our backyard and retrofitted our old 4.2 kW panels to give a total of 11.4 kW. Region also brought our old panels up to code with rapid shutdown.

A 19.2 kW set of stackable HomeGrid batteries in a beautiful compact cabinet with our new Sol-Ark hybrid inverter with complete home backup capabilities takes up very little room and made for a nice, clean install.
