Electric bills are no longer something to plan and budget for! They have become a minor expense.

Capital Area Solar Switch, 2023

Why did you decide to go solar?

Working with the Capital Area Solar Switch took all the stress away. SUN got me a trustworthy vendor with a competitive price, installation was easy, and now we’re producing the same amount of power that we are using – more on a sunny day! I’m delighted to be part of the solution, not the problem.

What was the process like for you? Did anything suprise you, or were there challenges you had to overcome?

We had to upgrade our electrical panel to handle the extra load, but the cost was rolled in and also qualified for the 30% tax credit.

Have any of your habits changed since going solar? (For example: driving an electric car or bike, switching to an electric stove or water heater, etc.)

We already had an EV (and a hybrid), and plugging in is so much better than going to the gas station, especially when our panels are producing the power!

Have you seen electricity savings since going solar? If so, what have you been able to do with that savings?

Electric bills are no longer something to plan and budget for! They have become a minor expense.

Have you been involved in any solar advocacy since becoming a solar owner?

I have continued my advocacy for renewable energy, and having solar panels gives that more credibility.

What advice would you give to someone considering going solar?

It’s good for your pocketbook, sure, but more importantly it’s good for your soul.
