Support Yellow Springs residents’ solar rights

The Yellow Springs Council intends to enforce an arbitrary limit on solar power. This is unfair and would substantially drive up the costs of going solar.

In 2013, the Yellow Springs Council passed an ordinance that granted the Village the ability to limit the amount of power generated by rooftop solar systems to not more than 1% of the Village’s annual energy use. Since then, more Yellow Springs homeowners and small businesses have installed solar systems. We have now reached the 1% cap.

Tell the Yellow Springs Council that rooftop solar benefits all residents by:

  • reducing dirty energy use and associated pollution
  • reducing transmission costs
  • sending affordable power to the grid during times of peak energy use when electricity is most expensive.

Tell the Council that Yellow Springs should support local solar investment and clean energy businesses.
